  • Excellent Implant Impressions in One Appointment!

    The NEW, scientifically-proven Border-Lock impression tray developed by Schreinemakers produces a final implant impression in just one appointment.
    Meets demands
    This semi-custom, single-use impression tray meets the demands of fit, rigidity and retention that are necessary for successful, precision implants. With retention grooves along the sides of the tray that do not affect the mucous membrane, dynamic pressure is ensured.

    Border-Lock’s transparency ensures the abutments are clearly visible, allowing their position to be indicated on the tray with a marker. At a thickness of 3.5mm, Border-Lock retains excellent stability even when holes are drilled chairside, prior to taking the final impression.

    Tray selection couldn’t be easier
    Simply bring the measuring calliper included in the Border-Lock kit into contact with the buccal surfaces of the 2nd molar and 2nd premolar for an upper, or the lingual surfaces for the lower. The calliper is then placed on the size chart to determine the best tray for the job, offering a quick and hygienic selection process that results in a precise fit.

What this means for customers is that there is always someone able to respond to enquiries and provide answers based upon professional experience, and the customer service team is no exception...

    When you place a call to Prestige Dental you may find Lisa Purdy, a Customer Service Advisor, on the other end of the phone. She has worked for Prestige since 2001 and in that time has become quite the expert on the products used in dentistry, as well as the needs of the dental team.

    Lisa says: ‘I love working in customer service. For me the main objective is to keep our customers happy, something that we work hard to achieve each and every time.’

    Alternatively, Diane Pinder, also a Customer Service Advisor, may pick up the receiver; due to her long-term service with Prestige Dental she has acquired a wealth of product knowledge and information, which is a useful combination for any customer service role.

    When asked what her secret to great customer service is, Diane responded: ‘I pride myself on my customer service skills and my ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and effectively.’

    Last – but by no means least – is Customer Service Administrator Emma Booth. In her own words, Emma has, ‘…bags of customer service experience, and I am a firm believer that good service is good service no matter what the product is. I think that as long as you are empathetic, listen to each customer’s thoughts, suggestions and concerns, and do what you say you will you can’t go far wrong. Treating customers as individuals is key, as everyone has different needs and wants.’

  • Prestige Dental forges ahead with charitable efforts

    The team at Prestige Dental is delighted to share with readers that they collected £560 for Marie Curie in the run up to Christmas.

    During the afternoon of the event, mince pies and mulled wine were enjoyed by all, while money was raised via a cake sale, naming the doorstop dog, and guessing how many sweets were in the jar. Also for sale were Christmas tree decorations made by Prestige Dental’s very own customer services rep, Di.

    All of these efforts follow on from Prestige Dental’s successful Marie Curie Big Blooming Tea Party held last summer, raising much-needed funds to help the charity care for more people living with a terminal illness.

    The team has also donated non-perishable food to the Trussell Trust, which collects and distributes non-perishable food to 424 food banks nationwide.

  • A Prestige prize for a prestige student

    Dentist Alexandra Henderson is the proud recipient of the annual Prestige Dental Prize, having been deemed the best performing student on the Postgraduate Certificate element of the MSc in Restorative Dental Practice, at UCL Eastman Dental Institute. The deputy programme director Dr Neil Nathwani  of the Postgraduate Certificate element of the course was delighted at Alexandra’s great all year round performance.

    Receiving her prize – a Denar Mark 2 articulator provided by sponsor Prestige Dental – Alexandra said: ‘I am so thrilled and thankful for this award. I had already set my sights on a Denar articulator, having used it and seen the benefits in practice, so to be given one as a prize is amazing. I don’t doubt it will make a huge difference at Croydon Dental Care, where I practise.’

    A spokesperson from UCL Eastman Dental Institute added: ‘Prestige Dental has always been very supportive of our programmes, providing equipment – including articulators – benefitting not only our students but also their patients for years to come.   • A model lunch and learn


    Vacuum forming is a dental technique that many a dental team has found invaluable once brought into the practice, and Prestige Dental makes that journey as simple and as pleasant as you could possibly want with its lunch and learn gatherings.

    Led by Jennifer Ball, a product specialist for Prestige, this is an event not to be missed! As an ex-dental nurse with plenty of experience, Jennifer knows exactly what it’s like to work in a busy team whose members strive to excel in everything they do.

    While lunch is enjoyed, Jennifer introduces the team to the day’s topic, during which she shows them how to cast up a study model. Then, while that is setting she shows a previously fabricated study model and explains how to use the vacuum forming machine to make a whitening tray. By then, the original study model is set and it’s time for everyone to gain some hands-on experience. Normally one or two members of the team cast up models while others try making a whitening tray.

    Speaking about these fun meetings, Jennifer commented: ‘Obviously some introductory information is essential but the real learning happens during the hands-on sessions. I believe that is the best possible way to understand how vacuum forming works, and the feedback I’ve received confirms that.

    ‘It offers the opportunity for me to teach everyone attending how to overcome issues that could arise – for example, a broken model and a patient waiting, an air bubble in the study model, or how to shape the study model so that it creates a tighter whitening tray.

    ‘Also very important is that I communicate the legal aspect of this type of work. For example, every dentist, nurse or hygienist can make a whitening tray as long as it is within their scope of practice, but if you want to make retainers you need to register the practice with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency for a small cost.

    ‘I know it’s a lot of to take in, so I also provide documents that support the information I’ve shared.’
